Since the creation of a good wine is as much about people as the process, we have engaged international experts – a leading, visiting oenologist, and a full-time, Italian oenologist and cellar master based at MonteKristo.  Both have extensive under- standing of how international grape varieties perform in Malta, and are instrumental in creating a distinct range of local wines which define the MonteKristo label.

Montekristo bottles MonteKristo currently produces wines from the Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grapes as well as blends including indigenous varieties.

The MonteKristo winery and vaults will be offering a range of cultural and agri- and gastro-tourism tours. Set among its own vineyards, the winery provides an insight into local wine production as well as opportunities for wine tasting and purchasing on site.  The vaults, housing the oak barriques of MonteKristo’s premium wines, create the perfect venue for the hosting of a variety of events and functions, both small and large scale. Located in the heart of the Maltese countryside, MonteKristo Estates boasts of purpose-built underground wine vaults, extensive local vineyards across the Islands including some 42,000m² surrounding the Chateau - a landmark building which sets the scene for the MonteKristo brand.

MonteKristo is a unique recreational, cultural and entertainment destination centred on an established wine estate in the heart of the Maltese countryside. This exciting project draws on elements of agri-tourism and the Islands’ cultural heritage to present a range of leisure and entertainment options to groups, families and individuals.
