The Maltese music is very diverse. Some artists tried in recent years to establish the traditional folk once again. But even at the international level, the Maltese musicians are in high demand, each year the country participates in the Eurovision Song Contest, several times with great success. But on other occasions increasingly Maltese artists are on display.

Have you heard the new song?
If you hear a song on the Maltese radio, you will say "this is certainly a new song by an internationally known band/singer." But you are dead wrong. Malta has many excellent musicians. This involves the spectrum of classical music to folk music and experimental music to hip-hop, RnB, techno and pop to classic rock.

Malta Rocks - 2008
Under the slogan "We Are Malta" various bands from Malta present what the island has to offer in terms of rock music.

The 2008 released CD Malta Rocks showes with 16 different Maltese rock bands, under the title 'We come from Malta', that Malta has also offer excellent musicians. An absolute MUST for any rock fan. Lee Nicholson, the popular presenter of the radio station 100.2 XFM reported on his show on opening night: "rock bands play unpluged with acoustic guitars and the house was on fire - just unbelievable."

Summer Music
A such clenched Music Summer should not be missed. Numerus concerts by international stars like Duran Duran, Brian Adams or Tom Jones were redeemed by the Malta Music Week with live performances in different places by Maltese artists. As the culmination of the massive spectacle of MTV Isle with Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, One Republic, Kocks, and as a superstar Enrique Iglesias in front of 40,000 enthusiastic fans.

Newcomer of the Year 2008 

Marilyn Mifsud
Just 20 years old, she is pursuing her goals with all consequences. Studying law and music, occurs in the musical 'Strait Street', studying beside all this classical saxophone, composing her own songs, sings in hotels and was a member of Malta's first Girlieband 'Vieve'. Marilyn is also active as a model. She's our cover-girl in the winter issue of lifestyle magazine.

Amelia
has sung two years in a bands before she decided to start a solo career this year. With the support of many friends, she has succeeded in a short time to produce her first own song 'A Blind Girl's Wishper'.

Eve Ransom
At first glance one might think it's the name of a new female pop artist, or an actress. But Eve Ransom is the name for a new band in the Maltese rock scene. With incredible energy and creativity this band has managed to write 14 of their own songs in a short time.

Beginning of 2008 the band went into the studio and recorded the single "Just The Way I Am". Which landed at #1 shortly after the appearance of the Maltese radio station BayRadio. Souvenir brought the band two nominations as Best Newcomer and Best Song at the Bay Music Awards.
