Maltese local beer Cisk...
In
the twenties of the last century Farrrugia L.
& Sons Ltd. was established in Hamrun as the first brewery in
the small Mediterranean
island. Thus in 1928 Malta's first local beer was brewed, the
Farsons 'Pale
Ale' lager.

In 1929,
merged Simonds with Farsons, the largest importer
of beer. 1948 came it to successful merger discussions with the Malta
Export Brewery, a competing company, and thus became the Simonds
Farsons Cisk
Limited. In 1950 a new brewery was built in Mriehel and
continuously upgraded.
Today,
the production area is over 24,000 square meters. A long time Farsons
were
only a classical brewery, but in 1952 the company developed
its first soft
drink 'Kinnie ', witch now is the national drink of Malta. Later,
table water and under license manufactured juices were added. Today
Farsons products are sold not only in Malta but also in countries like
Italy, Greece or Egypt. 1995 Simonds Farsons Cisk set another milestone
when it was the first located entirely privately owned company that was
listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. The brewery is constantly brought
up to date and the holding is now extending over an area of 24000m ².
Cisk
Lager
Cisk Lager is a gold-colored, bottom-fermented lager with a very
specific, well-balanced character. Its rich hop-aroma and a pleasant
bitter taste makes it a great thirst quencher. Its alcohol content is
4.2%.
Cisk Lager won many internationally recognized prizes: a second place in the prestigious 'International Lager Competition', a first place at the 'The Brewing Industry International Awards' 2005, which are known as the Oscars of the brewing industry, a high distinction in the 'International Lager Category' at the 'Australian Beer Awards' 1995, the 'Pfizer Food Science Trophy'. 1980 Cisk Lager won a similar double-award at the 'Brewex Competition' in England, where it won both gold medals as the best lager beer, as well as the overall winner.

EXTRA STRONG PREMIUM LAGER BEER
The
Cisk Brewery Farsons has brewed with the Premium Lager XS a new, extra
strong beer. With 9% alcohol content, it is the strongest beer on
Malta. Its bitter taste and fresh hop-aroma makes this beer a perfect
addition to savoury meals. Until now the Cisk XS was only brewed for
the export. But it is also available on the local market. It is only
served in the XS glass and only available in chosen bars and
restaurant.
